He was a home builder. He owned Addington Lumber Company. For many years he hauled water in Warrick County and worked at International Harvester in Evansville, Indiana. He retired from mining after 23 years. He belonged to the United Mine Worker Association. He was a Ham Radio Operator and he also designed and built his own plane. He was a Lieutenant in the Service and a veteran of WWII Army Air Corp.⁵
