William A. Sims was born from 1800 to 1810 in Kentucky.1

William A. Sims died from July 1842 to January 1845. William and Catherine appeared on the census of 1830 in Christian County, Kentucky.3 William and Catherine appeared on the census of 1840 in Christian County, Kentucky.4 William A. Sims had James Overton, age 10, train under him. The following is from court records of Christian County: Indenture between Abraham Stites, Clerk of Christian County Court of the first part and William A. Sims of the other part, by order of July 1842 term of court, bound out James Overton about ten years of age, infant son of Benjamin Overton, to learn the art, trade and mystery of a farmer until he arrives to the age of twenty one years. He is also to be taught to read and write and common arithmetic including the rule of three. At the expiration of his apprenticeship he is to be paid three pounds ten shillings lawful money of Kentucky and a decent suit of new clothes. Recorded 4th July 1842.5 The following next few paragraphs concern the sale of William's estate after his death. This information came from Court House Records in Christian County, Kentucky: Christian County court to Wit January 6, 1845. On motion of John W. Grissam admin of William A. Sims deceased is ordered that D. R. ? Dobbins - Amos Atkinson, John Knight and John Harkins or any three of them being first-sworn to appraise in current money the personal estate and slaves if any of said deceased and return an inventory thereof to Court. Attest: Abraham Stites. Christian County ? - Personally appeared before me ? wittness named Amos Atkinson, John Harkins and John Knight and was this day duly sworn in compliance with the wittness order as appraisers - January 10th 1845. Signed: M. Wilson Justice of the Peace. Commonwelath of Kentucky. County of Christian, to wit: Abraham Stites the Cleark of the County Court of Christian County afore said do certify that this inventory of William A. Sims deceased was on this day produced in Court and having been examined was approved of and ordered to be recorded whereupon the said inventory together with the foregoing certificate hath been duly admitted to record in my office - given under my hand the 2nd day of June 1845. I James Woodburn of the County of Christian and State of Kentucky -- Being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life and being desirous to dispose of all such worldy state as is hath pleased God to ? ? me with. I give and bequeath the same in manner following that is to say first I desire that a sufficient amount of my personal property be sold after my deceased to pay all my just debts and funeral expenses. Secondly I give to my son Benjamin W. Woodburn my ? Horse saddle and Bridle upon the condition the he remains with his mother and afsits her in providing for the children until he is twenty one years of age. Thirdly, after the payment of all my just debts and funeral expenses I give and bequesth to my wife Amelia Woodburn all the rest of my estate both real and personal of what nature and knd ? it maybe ? herin before particularity(?) disposed of to have and to hold forever as her absoulte property and that John A. Woodburn is hereby appointed Trustee for said Amelia Woodburn with full power to sell and convey ? property both real and personal for the use and benefit of ? Amelia Woodburn. And lastly, I do herby constitute and appoint Joan A. Woodburn executor of this my will and testament hereby ?ing all other former wills or testaments by me heretofore made. Matthew Wilson died in 1853 in Christian County, Kentucky.1 Matthew was partly reared in North Carolina, but for sometime resided in South Carolina. He and his mother then came to Kentucky in about 1794 and settled in what was then Logan County, in that portion from which Christian County was afterward formed.1 He was for many years a surveyor ; for a long time he was a member of the County Court.1 Matthew owned approximately 1652 acres in Christian County according to the Kentucky Land Grant Database. Following is the actual survey description found in the Christian County records for one of the pieces of land that was surveyed by Matthew on 19 Sep 1799. : Survey for Matthew Wilson 200 acres of land by virtue of the Commifsioner Certificate is (3825) lying in Christian County on the water of the Blue ? fork of Pond River. Bounded as follows, ? beginning on two post oaks. Black oak and White oak on ? N. W. line running north 35 west 120 polde to two Sy? White on David Campbells line ? south 55 west 200 poles to four post oaks. Then south 35 east 194 poles to a White oak ? 55 east 108 poles to Walnut ? on the line. Then with this line north 35 west 74 poles to two White oaks on ? West corner. Then north 55 east 92 poles with this line to the beginning. Sept the 19th 1799.
