Elizabeth "Polly" Sprinkle was born in 1804 in Warrick County, Indiana. She was the daughter of John Sprinkle Jr. and Susannah Lawrence. Elizabeth "Polly" Sprinkle married Jabes Dillens on 29 May 1822 in Warrick County, Indiana.1 Elizabeth "Polly" Sprinkle married John V. Darby, son of John Darby and Emily Hazen, on 5 May 1823 in Warrick County, Indiana.2 Elizabeth "Polly" Sprinkle died before 1851.

As of 29 May 1822,her married name was Dellen. As of 5 May 1823,her married name was Darby.      The following paragraphs are from the book titled 'A bicentennial look at Newburgh, Indiana', "In the year 1818 John Sprinkle obtained title to 205 acres of land in Warrick County, Indiana. By August 1 of the same year he had surveyed and laid out 102 lots. However the Sprinkle home was not in this section.
John V. Darby married John Sprinkle's daughter, Elizabeth, and in 1824 he purchased lot #84 from his father-in-law for #35. This small purchase price was probably due to the fact that six years later the town's population was only 37.
Now came the building of the Darby home. It was erected near the southeastern corner of the lot and was "L" shaped. As Mr. Darby was a gunsmith and a Justice of the Peace, a building for those operations was needed and one was erected at the corner where the streets intersected.
In 1884 a terrible windstorm struck Newburgh while the Ohio River was at flood stage. The waves washed away the street in front of the house and several feet of the lot's frontage. Afterward, when a retaining wall was erected the original front property line was ignored and the wall was placed where the cave-in had occurred.
Two children were born to John and Elizabeth Darby - John H. and Louisiana. Louisiana married W. P. Norwood, steamboat captain and prominent in the form of Norwood and Taylor, wharf boat operators at Newburgh.
The house now known as the "Norwood House" was built for Captain and Mrs. Norwood and she remained there the remainder of her lifetime. At the the death of her father, she inherited the lot and all its improvements. About 20 years after her father's death, his old home and shop were removed from the lot, allowing them a better view of the river.
At Mrs. Norwood's death, her four children inherited the property and in 1913 Harry A. Darby, a great grandson of John Sprinkle purchased it from her heirs. Five years later he sold it, ending an ownership that had endured for 100 years either of John Sprinkle or his descendents. It again became Mr. Darby's property in 1928 and he kept it for 18 years. Mr. and Mrs. James E. Cox lived there over 25 years and the present owners are Robert M. Anderson."3

Per the book ' A Bicentennial Look at Newburgh, Indiana'": At the time of her husband's death, Susannah (Lawrence) Sprinkle was left with several children still at home. Three years later, on November 29, 1825, she married Boaz Brooks of Kentucky. They had no issue. Boaz was born on December 29, 1784 in Fayette County, Ky., the son of a Revolutionary soldier, Thomas Brooks. The mother of Boaz was Sarah Boone, a relative of the famous Daniel Boone. Boaz had previously been married to Mary Lawrence, perhaps a sister to Susannah. By 1830 Boaz was dead and Susannah was once again left a widow. In the 1830 Census she was listed as living with her six children. She is also listed in the 1840 census living with 2 sons. She is not listed in the 1850 census as it is presumed that she either died or left Warrick County.4
